Every cooking category we cover, from quick chicken skillets to slow-simmered vegetarian stews. Pick a direction and you'll land in a full collection of one-pot dinners built for the way real households actually cook on a Tuesday night.

How we sort the kitchen

The Spice & Simmer library groups recipes the way most home cooks actually shop. The category is the centerpiece of the dinner — the chicken, the beef, the pasta, the bowl of beans — not the cuisine, not the cook time. That's a deliberate choice: when you stand in front of the fridge at five forty-five, you're not asking yourself "what cuisine do I feel like" — you're asking "what is this thing I bought, and what can I do with it tonight?"

Across 608 recipes and 14 categories, we've leaned on the largest sections — Chicken, Beef, Pasta, Seafood, Vegetarian — because that's where the weeknight cooking actually happens. The smaller categories (Side, Starter, Breakfast, Dessert) are useful as building blocks: a sheet-pan side that turns a centre-of-the-plate into a full meal, a starter that doubles as a light Friday-night dinner, a breakfast bowl that holds for lunch.

What you'll find inside each category

Every category page opens with a short read on what that section actually covers — average cook times, the cuisines that turn up most, the cooking methods we lean on. From there you'll see the full grid of recipes, paginated so the page doesn't choke on a phone, and a set of cross-links at the bottom: by cuisine, by method, by protein, so you can keep browsing sideways instead of starting over.

If you'd rather start somewhere other than the centerpiece, the cuisine index, methods index and protein index all reach the same recipes from a different angle. There's no canonical front door — pick the one that matches how your week is shaped.
